About Jennifer
After receiving her Bachelors Degree from Boston University in Broadcasting and Film, with a concentration in Chinese Language (Mandarin), Jennifer listened to her heart and followed her dream to dance professionally. This unconventional, against-all-probable-odds accomplishment brought Jennifer much joy, and served as one of her greatest early life lessons in self-trust that still informs her to this day. She performed and toured with a variety of dance companies and productions on both the East and West Coasts, including North Atlantic Ballet, and Aeolian Ballet’s production of Les Sylphides staged and directed by Yuri Grigoriev. Upon returning to dance after more than a decade of retirement and nine years into motherhood, Jennifer was surprised and delighted to be offered the opportunity to co-choreograph and perform an original work, composed by Heena Yoon, which debuted at the University of Santa Barbara’s Summer Music Festival.
Far earlier into her dance career than she would have liked, challenges with Chronic Fatigue led Jennifer away from dance for a number of years and onto a journey of wellness discovery that led her through many peaks and valleys. During this time and over the course of many years, Jennifer earned certifications and completed trainings in a select group of specialized evidence-based, body-mind modalities, known to be therapeutic, which help people to relieve stress, increase vitality, and improve overall performance. Modalities include: yoga, meditation, projected meditation for healing, prenatal yoga, PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), kinesiological dance/athletic conditioning, Qigong and Medical Qigong (Spring Forest Qigong). She has more than a decade of experience sharing these techniques working one-on-one and with groups of all ages in wellness centers, yoga studios, conferences, park and recreation centers, schools and dance studios and with individuals remotely.
Jennifer is dedicated mama to one courageous, determined and brilliant, dancing child. The transformational experience of motherhood - physical, mental and spiritual - continues to inform and inspire Jennifer’s work with all people and all ages. Her work supporting women through pre and post-postpartum stages and challenges has been particularly gratifying and a subject of ongoing study and development.
A lifelong learner, Jennifer continues to expand her knowledge base. One particularly transformative area of continued study has been the indigenous musical traditions of her Southern Italian ancestors with Alessandra Belloni. A direct descendant within a long line of practitioners of Southern Italian folk traditions, Jennifer knows from the depths of her heart the deeply healing and transformative power of rhythm, music and dance that all of our human ancestors once knew and held sacred. The profound experience of reconnecting with her own ancestral musical traditions inspired Jennifer to become a Trained Group Empowerment HealthRhythms Drumming Facilitator through Remo Health and Wellness; yet another evidence-based protocol (developed by a neuroscientist) which validates ancient wisdom.
Jennifer continues to find inspiration in the lessening gap between spirit and science and enjoys being a part of the strengthening bridge between the two. Jennifer is passionate about sharing techniques which help empower people to liberate potentials, better understand themselves and feel good in their bodies, connect within and to All That Is, and extend healthy longevity from a place of inspiration and joy.
Jennifer offers in-person sessions to individuals and groups within the beautiful ancestral land of the Chumash, the greater Santa Barbara area. Remote sessions are also available.
